988 National Suicide & Mental Health Crisis Lifeline

March 14, 2023

Did you know that in the United States, there is a suicide every 11 minutes? Did you know that nearly 1 in 5 adults face a mental health crisis daily?

For individuals suffering from social isolation, for elderly who have outlived family, spouses, friends, & even their physicians, Dialing 988 may be the one thing that helps them in a moment of despair.

988 is a 3 digit national suicide and mental health crisis lifeline which helps people who are having a mental health crisis and/or suicidal thoughts to be able to speak directly to a trained mental health professional.

988 won’t be a busy signal, and won’t put you oh hold-YOU WILL GET HELP.

For our veterans, those suffering from loneliness, from military related traumatic stress (PTSD), & who may feel misunderstood and alone, dialing 988-1 will put them in touch with a veteran’s trained mental health professional who will be able to assist the vet to receive necessary veteran’s related mental health services.

Both numbers are in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

By sharing both the 988 (non-veterans) and 988-1 mental health crisis telephone numbers you may be saving a life. If you are aware of anyone who feels alone, feels helpless, inform them about this mental health crisis hotline.

YOU may make the difference and save a life.
