Types of Property Taxes

Property owners in Dunmore receive three tax bills (Borough, School, and County). The Borough Tax Collector issues the Borough and School Tax Bills, the county bill is issued by the county. Bills are based on the assessed values times the mills. A mill is a $1 tax on every $1,000 of assessed property value. The median residential assessed value in Dunmore is $10,000.

Borough Taxes

Borough tax bills are mailed at the beginning of February. They are based on the mills set by Borough Council at the end of the prior when they pass the budget. Depending on when the bill is paid you may be able to receive a discount.

School Taxes

Bills that are not paid by the end of the applicable tax year are turned over to the Tax Claim Bureau, 123 Wyoming Avenue, Second Floor, Scranton, PA. 18503.

All Local Earned Taxes must be filed with Berkheimer Administrators from the year 2012 and moving forward. You may get filing forms via their website http://www.hab-inc.com or call them at 1-866-701-7206.

Methods to Pay Your Real Estate Taxes

Borough Building or Mail

If you are paying by check, you can utilize the Dropbox located at the main entrance of the borough building (400 S. Blakely Street). The box is monitored by a security camera. If you are dropping off your payment during business hours, you may enter the building and pay in person to receive an immediate receipt. Taxpayers who utilize the drop box, or mail their tax payments, should include a stamped self-addressed envelope to receive a receipt or include an email address on the payment coupon for an emailed receipt.

Bank Branches

Full Payments only (no installments) are accepted at all branches of Fidelity Bank and First National Community Bank.

Online

Payments can also be made online via our new website https://tax.gss-pa.com/dunmore/cc/taxSearch with additional fees. Fees are non-refundable.

Act 57 of 2022 Waiver of Additional Charges

Act 57 allows taxpayers who fail to receive a tax notice during their first year of occupancy to apply for a waiver from penalties and additional costs from the tax collector. The taxpayer must complete the waiver form and provide all the required items.
